Vi tog en 2-timmarspromenad i det vackra vädret runt den gamla fängelseön Långholmen. Tänk, här badade vi i somras.
Är det en vas? Is it a vase?

En ny variant på den gamla lugtfuktaren som hängdes på elementet?
The sun was generously shining when we took a wlak on "Södermalm" our part of the city. We walked along channel where they build a lot of new homes.
Some people however choose to live on a boat like this. 
Someone was at home. We could see smoke coming out from the chimney. Rhe outside furniture looked very empty. I expect they are waiting for better times to come.
The icebreaking boat came and made a channel through the ice. The sound of the cracking ice was almost jingeling.
Trots kylan finns det folk som tar en löprunda längs med kajen.
We also met some people who were cycling. It looked a little wobbly. But these bikes look as if they are in a nice winter sleep.
The small paths in Vita Bergsparken (the white hill parque) wriggled over the hill that looked like a froted cake. It´s not the white snow that gave the hill it´s name. I have understood that this used to be the area of many washerwomen. They used to hang out the newly washed sheets all over the place.
The slope invited children and their parents for a ride downhill.
Up on the hill some of the old homes are preserved. People who live here do have elecricity but they have to bring in ...and out water and they don´t have WC.
The Best Friend´s nose looks a little red in the cold.
More little red houses and "the scraper" in back. On the top level there is a bar and a restaurant. I don´t recommend it for it´s brilliant service or nice drinks. But the view is adorable.
Just in front of Hotel Rival (owned by "ABBA-Benny") the walk was closed, due to tons of snow coming down on the flags. I had to use the street to get to the grocery store. (A man in yellow is standing in the street to alert people.)
The men with their shovels were up on the roof. It looked really scary. An old fashioned job that hasn´t developed much except for the safety harness and better shoes.
I den lilla parken som Mariatorget faktiskt är, även om det heter torg, skulle även träden tuktas inför den kommande sommaren. Arborist är ett respektingivande yrke. Vi anlitade en när vi bodde i hus. Han tog ner en jättetall gren för gren. Han var engelsman. Det var de här också. Jag tror att alla arborister är engelsmän! 
At last, fit for new walks! Thw weather wasn´t one one of the best but a little bit of blue could be seen behind the clouds. The ice lies solid on "Riddarfjärden" ("The Knight´s Bay") even though it has been broken up to make it possible to build a new tunnel for the train.

Some tourists tried the ice. It was safe to take a short walk. I hope You recognize our Cityhall which is the place where the Nobel Banquet is held every 10th of December. We also got married there.
An old bridge (Norrbro) has been closed for 2 years and was going to be reopened today. We waited an extra hour to avoid the crowds but when we arrived we came just in time to see the last stone to be put in place by Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden.
We bought a picture in Old Town. It´s a print from an engraving that shows the surroundings where we live.

... and today. It was damaged in a fire in 1759 and the tower was rebuilt.
You can´t see The palace of Van der Noot across the cemetery (compare with the first picture)
But if You take a small walk to 21 Sankt Paulsgatan it´s there. It was built around 1671. There are some windows on the roof that can´t be seen on the picture.
In the evening we met some friends and went to The Black and Brown Inn among other places

I was going to write something about all ice on the streets here in Stockholm that make people fall and break all their bones.
But insted I want You to lift You eyes and pay attention to all work that is done to help people on Haiti. I am sure there are lots of ways to make your contribution where ever You are. "Work for free" and give away one hour`s salary to Doctors without borders.
This is a "Semla" which normally is served from the Fettisdag (15 Feb). But they do sell them from new year or even earlier. A lot of people think that one shouldn´t start in advance, but I don´t really care. Life is too short - especially when I keep falling and breking ribs. The doctor has given me orders to take it easy for some time. Today I at least came outside for a nice walk in town. But I want to go skiing!
